Eligibility Requirements
- A pass degree in any discipline
- Medically and physically fit (For Men: PES B1 and above, with at least a “pass” in latest IPPT)

INVEST Retirement Benefits
A contribution equivalent to 13.25% of your gross salary will be credited monthly into your retirement account, starting from your 5th year in service and will cease when you reach 56 years old. The monies are invested to earn investment returns. Upon retirement, you can withdraw the full sum in your account.
Strategic Payment Scheme
You can look forward to cash payouts of 3 months quantum of your gross salary (ASP and below) or 2.5 months quantum of your gross salary (DSP and above) upon reaching your 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th, 20th, and 25th year in service. -
As a new entrant officer, you will be required to undergo a 38-week Prison Officer Course (Rehabilitation Officer) at the Home Team Academy, which will equip you with the relevant knowledge and skills to perform your duties. All new Captains of Lives are required to serve a two-year bond after graduating from the course.
You will also undergo regular in-service training, relevant functional training and courses, and milestone leadership development programs for your professional and personal growth as you advance in your career in corrections. -

Foundational PostingAfter graduating from the Prison Officer course (Rehabilitation Officer), you will be deployed as a Senior Correctional Unit Officer (SCUO) in one of the prison institutions. As a SCUO, you will ensure the effective and efficient running of the operations and rehabilitation programmes in the correctional unit. You will lead a team of like minded and highly skilled Captains of Lives to achieve the goals of safe and secure custody of inmates, as well as their successful rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Through purposeful interactions with offenders, you will guide and steer them towards a life without offending.
Developmental PostingAfter your foundational posting, you may be deployed to one of the HQ staff divisions where you will hone and develop your staff work skills. Through regular job rotations across operational and staff positions, you will grow in your leadership and organisational management skills as a leader in corrections. If you are found suitable, there will also be opportunities for secondment to Ministry of Home Affairs and relevant external agencies for further exposure and development.
