Accident Involving one of SPS's Vehicles and a Private Car

Singapore, 9 October 2024

1.     SPS confirms that an accident involving one of our vehicles and a private car had taken place along Simei Street 3 on 8 October 2024 at about 9.20am.

2.     The SPS vehicle was transporting inmates and escorting officers from the Changi Prison Complex to the Changi General Hospital (CGH) for the inmates’ medical appointments. Along Simei Street 3, about 400 metres away from CGH, the right side of the SPS vehicle made an impact with the left side of a private car which was travelling on the lane next to the SPS vehicle.

3.     The staff in the SPS vehicle did not stop the vehicle and continued to CGH. This is not in accordance with SPS’s Standard Operating Procedure, which requires the vehicle to stop and assess for any damages and injuries after an accident.

4.     We regret that our staff in the SPS vehicle had failed to stop the vehicle after the accident.  

5.     We have since contacted the private car driver involved in the accident. We lodged a Police report soon after the accident and will cooperate fully with the Police on the investigations.
